Belarus reveals their 11 finalists for Eurovision

Only moments ago, the Belarussian auditions ended. 85 artists auditioned and the judges have chosen the 11 acts which will compete in the Belarussian national final!

Belarus’ 2018 National Final

The 11 acts who will take part in the Belarussian final are, in alphabetical order:

  • Adagio – Ti i ya (You and Me)

  • Alekseev – Forever

  • Alen Hit – I Don’t Care

  • Anastasiya Malashkevich – World on Fire

  • Gunesh – I Won’t Cry

  • Kirill Gud – Deja Vu

  • Lexy – Ain’t You

  • NAPOLI – Chasing Rushes

  • Radiovolna – Subway Lines

  • Shuma – Kmarki (Clouds)

  • Sofi Lapina – Gravity

PROvokatsiya and Alexey Gross, who have both previously took part in the Belarussian final also auditioned. Unfortunately, they failed to impress the judges and will not appear in the final.

Among the finalists, there are two names in particular that you should recognise…

NAPOLI have taken part in every Belarussian final since 2014. Their best placing was achieved in 2016, in which they came 2nd with 22,399 votes, being beat only by Ivan’s 23,167 votes.

After coming 2nd, they sent the same song to the Polish national final in the hope that Poland will like them just a bit more. Sadly, Poland didn’t like My Universe at all, and it came last. Whoops!

Alekseev is one of the most promising young stars in Eastern Europe. In 2014, he participated in the Ukrainian version of The Voice, reaching the semifinals. He later released Pyanoe solntse which was a big hit in Ukraine!

He was initally going to take part in Ukraine’s national final, Vidbir 2018, but later decided to try for Belarus instead.

Belarus in the Eurovision Song Contest

Belarus’ 2018 national final will take place in Minsk on 16 February. It is expected that the winner will be chosen with the same 50/50 combination of televoting and juries that Belarus used last year.

The nation has participated 14 times in the Eurovision Song Contest, making it to the final 5 times. Their best result came in 2007, when Dmitry Koldun’s Work Your Magic came 6th.

Last year, NAVIBAND represented Belarus with Story of My Life. They made it to the final and came 17th with 83 points.

Did your favourite make it to the Belarussian final? Which is your favourite entry ever from Belarus? Who do you want to see represent Belarus in Eurovision?
