Thoughts on the voting system

2nd semi Televoting winner - Norway, Jury winner - North Macedonia

Final Televoting winner - Norway, Jury winner - Sweden

Holland is nowhere to be seen and, yet, they've won. Something has to change, it just doesn't feel fair, even though Holland had a good song/singer.

Perhaps it's time to start having 2 winners and then draw for the next host?

The system is crap and its happened before, win neither yet sneak the win. Also semi 1 australia won it yet didnt win either televote or jury then too. Also the juries are meant to be professional and unbiased yet the scandis were all over sweden 12 after 12 and they were so smug about it as well. Something has to change but were talking about sand and the ebu and they couldnt care less so it will be same again next year

not contradicting your views but I thought I saw Holland came first in the 2nd Semi with 280 points ?

If the juries always agreed with the televote then there would be no point having them. They are supposed to balance the assumed bias televoters have towards their own and neighbouring countries, and to a lesser extent staging etc. although the EBU don't put it that way, they say they focus on song quality (whatever that means in reality).

I'm not sure what the answer is. I would actually like to see each jury member provide a justification for why they scored each song the way they did. Just a few lines explaining what they did or did not like about the song. We could go back to televoting only. Of course nobody will be happy anyway, so let's just cancel the voting and spin a wheel at the end of the night and if your country comes you get the expense of hosting.

Same way as in the final. They were second in televoting (Norway was 1st), third in the jury vote.(after NM and Sweden) but Norway was 11th with the juries and NM 7th, Sweden 6th in televoting.

That's true and that's not my issue at all

It just feels like we're looking at a decade (or however long it takes to change the system) of winners that neither the public nor the jury voted as winners..so, what's the point?

I've thought about this a lot and I really think that there should be 2 winners and then let luck decide. It sounds fairer to me because, at least, the host of the next contest would have won something on their own, not by default..

I don't think this is a good idea. For most people having two winners would seem pretty silly. Maybe it could work as a "jury prize", but people will probably only accept the televote as the "real winner" anyway.

It's funny in a way, they stopped combining the jury and televote so it was fairer (i.e. making it so people have a direct say on points) and people complain it's not fair now because you can see the disparity between the two.

And life isn't fair. It is possible to commit no mistake and still lose.

I think combining the votes was the best way as neither jury or televote had such a big say then
