  1. Okay, it's simples :D we're going to see who escChat would send to Eurovision in Oslo if we were...erm...Finland! Vote for your THREE favourite songs to make it to the final out of the following:

    (1) "Anastacia" - Amadeus

    (2) "You Don't Know Tomorrow" - Bääbs

    (3) "America (I Think I Love You)" - Boys of the Band (BOB)

    (4) "Il mondo è quì" - Pentti Hietanen
*Video unavailable - but don't worry, it's dull shit.*

    (5) "Cider Hill" - Nina Lassander
  2. Obviously, opinions might change after seeing the live performances :D that is if YLE allow a foreign webcasts (bastards :@). Who can forgot Kwan last year? One of the favourites to begin with (ask Mina :P) but after the scream-a-thon that was their first performance everyone soon switched to support other acts...
  3. Vizzy, you were meant to vote for three! :D

Pentti Hietanen can be heard here. I actually don't mind it, although my taste is a bit strange. I find it somewhat triumphant, even if it's style is a little outdated.

Amadeus: erm sorry but not for me. Trying to fuse South West Asian themes with crappy electronic beats and strings has become horribly popular recently.. I mean listen to the start of Anastacia and it wouldn't shock you if someone chanted 'JAI HO'.. uncannily similar, no? And while Amadeus wails every bit as annoyingly as A.R. Rahman, you have to wonder what the true masters of Qawwali music make of this.

Bääbs: I could imagine this song on the tracklist of a satisfyingly consistent album that you'd play as you drive to work. That means though, that it doesn't really stand out either. I'd like to think she'd hook up with me, and then I could call her 'babes'.. and the song does have that stupid oomph ending that Eurovision crowds use as a signal to commence their obligatory cheering and flag waving.. but alas Bääbs and her song are lacking something.

Boys of the Band (BOB): Oh dear. It's what I imagine The Futureheads (feat. Brian May) performing a Busted song would sound like.. which would sound dreadful incidentally. I'm not a fan of superpowers as it is, but seriously.. I can't think of a worse thing to sing about at the EUROvision Song Contest. Go fuck off to America, BOB, if you love it so much.

Nina Lassander: Lisa Miskovsky-esque? There's certainly something about the ethereal vocals, the silly inclusion of a harpsichord and the development from something soft to something quite powerful that reminds me of someone out there. This could win! Great melody, great progression, the militaristic snares driving forward.. and let's ignore the reference to America in this one [U-S-A! U-S-A! *boo*]. It has a very poignant message- '..everybody has a place in time, where stars fall in line, where every colour shines and lights up your life. Everybody has a magic moment, that they remember still..' but then it's ruined in a way. She distracts from such a good, win-worthy chorus with imagery of Cider Hill. So Nina, love your ethos and I don't mind a good ramble in the hills myself.. but you must've confused me for someone else, because I've never even set foot on Cider Hill.

'Anastacia' is my favourite by far. It is IMMENSE.
