OK, so the stage is set for this years battle for number 1. I think it may be the closest final for many years and I also think doing battle will be Sweden :se:, UK :uk:, Azerbaijan :az:, Denmark :dk:, and possibly, if the wind is in the right direction, Ireland :ie:. I have to say that as I am Irish myself.
Please have a look at my Top 10 video which I still stand by although I did have to cahnge my number 9 when Norway went out in the 1st semi-final, that is still a bit of a shock. I have placed Ireland in my Top 10 now as like them or loath them Jedward put on a good show!

Was anyone else shocked by Moldova getting through to the final - whats going on!! And don't get me started on those hats - crazy :o.

I was shocked, when Moldova getting through to the final, I am sorry for Slovakia:sk:, I was sure that Slovakia will go to the final

This semi didn't have a lot of surprises for me. Ok, Moldova was probably the least expected country to come out of the envelopes, in stead I expected Latvia or Holland.
Only voted twice last night: Austria and Slovenia

I voted last night for Austria and Slovakia

I wonder what countries were allowed to vote last night as in the UK we couldn't vote for anyone. Our voting night was Tuesday's semi-final and I voted for Norway and Finland.
  6. NickEmpel BURGER AND FRIES

I think it was the nineteen semifinal 2 participants + Italy Germany and France;)

I, too, was surprised by Moldova - and their hats. I think tonight their hats should be even taller!! I was disappointed that Holland didn't get through but, to be honest, nothing about Eurovision surprises me anymore.

Sorry to offend anyone, but I was pleased Slovakia didn't get through (and I have now sorted out my Slovakia from my Slovenia); I thought they were awful, actually the worst of the whole contest and, to be honest, I'm not struck on Slovenia either.

If the UK, particularly Lee, can give a good performance tonight I think they will do well, but I'm not hopeful. They've not be putting in particularly noteworthy performances in the rehearsals and (I know I've said this before in the chat room) I think it is too high and I think he will struggle to get up there. (Someone give him a ladder!) I think many of us in the UK would just be happy with a 'somewhere near the top' finish to get us back in the swing again and hopefully for someone 'big' to step up to the plate next year.

I think Jedward will do well. The backing singers will carry the tune and they can leap about. They are engaging and, as I understand it, have endeared themselves all over Europe.

I would like :at: :it::uk::hu::ro: to be up there somewhere but can't believe that the former Soviet states won't be there.

    Bring it on!

It's all in the lap of the gods. I wouldn't like to call it for tonights contest. It is going to be very close and as usual there will be some very bizarre voting and neighbourly voting of course as well. I imagine the UK will give Ireland 12 points due to our connection with 'the lads'. Jedward have a huge fanbase in the UK and have made a lot of friends across Europe over the last couple of weeks.

I don't really care who wins as long as the song is a worthy winner and not Moldova.

I think it will be very close this year between 5 or 6 countries namely:az: :ch: :dk: :se: :ru: and i hope my favourite this year:is:

    Congratulations Azerbaijan!:az:

Those were quite possibly the most bizarre Eurovision results I have ever seen. I honestly though Sweden was going to be 15th-20th, Italy was going to be right at the bottom and as for Azerbaijan winning, I expected them to be 3rd at best. It's a shame in a way because they more or less won by default i.e they won because nobody else did, but still, Congratulations Azerbaijan :az:

    Doesn't sounds weird :
    MOLDOVA 12. ( TOO , TOO , TOO , TOO OVERRATED )
    ITALY 2. ( overrated at all )
    SWITZERLAND 25. ( underrated )
HUNGARY 21. ( favorite for all the time )
    UKRAINE 4.
ESTONIA 24(favorite for all the time )
Those were the most bizarre Eurovision results I have ever seen.
Thanks God that AZERBAIJAN wins, wouldn't be suprised that Moldova wins.

The voting was very inconsistent this year - it was impossible to tell who was going to win. I can't believe the UK giving Moldova points!!
Finland and Hungary deserved more points. France had a disappointing performance not sure if there was sound problems for the singer - looked like he was adjusting the volume on his earpiece.
UK - not the best performance - I suspect nerves got in the way of a great performance. Thank God Italy didn't win - what was going on there with them getting all those points - it was an awful instantly forgettable song, for the Eurovision anyway. Great for a Jazz competition.
Here is my updated video including actual results from the final.

See you in Azerbaijan next year. :az:

I was enjoying the contest until the voting started. Very strange voting this year! No clear winner this year. I predicted the last 3 winners, but this year I don't think there was a song good enough to be a clear winner. The standard was not as good as other years. Azerbaijan had an ok song, but is the most average song to have won in a long time. Italy also is the most average song to have come 2nd in a long time. Denmark or Sweden would have been better winners. Why did Bosnia, Greece and Georgia all make the top 10. They were not strong enough songs to do that well. The bottom 4 entries were all better songs, especially Estonia. There seemed to be sound problems too which spoiled the chances for the UK and France.
I still enjoyed the contest, but the end result was a huge disappointment. Oh well, on to next year.
