What is this you may ask? Why is Lusitânia having a National Final selection for Edition 19...when Edition 17 has only just started? Well, this is because we are having a Melodifestivalen-style selection process. A whopping FIFTY (50) songs are taking part. There will be five semifinals of TEN songs each. The top two vote-getting songs from each semi will advance to the grande final. Along with these ten qualifiers, there will be two jury-jokers advanced to the grande final amongst the non-qualifiers. These two jury jokers will be the highest scoring non qualifiers. In the case of a tie, the executives of Televisão Lusitânia (TVL) will make the final decision.

Once the songs have been announced for Edition 17, stay tuned here for the songs in our first national semifinal, along with the scoring system.

Well, we have discussed the voting system with others, and they seem to like it, so now we can announce the songs in Semifinal number 1! YAY!!!

There are 10 songs. Each entry will list the title and performer of the song, along with a link to watch the video and/or have the video embedded. Some videos have embedding disabled, so you can use the link provided. If the link is "blocked in your country" garbage, please just do a video search using the song title and artist.

Special voting rules!!!
Instead of the traditional Eurovision voting system (Borda count), I am using a special way to vote in this "Lusofestivalen". Every person voting will be given 10,000 "votes". This is to be a representation of votes being received from all over each person's respective country. This will give vote results similar to Melodifestivalen. You can split up these votes amongst all of the songs, give them all to one song (this is directed at one person. You KNOW who you are ), or split them up amongst a few songs. Try to be creative and give results like "this song gets 4579 votes, while this other song got 2811 and another got 2610 votes (10,000 total).

OK! One to Semi 2. One note about a change in voting...

Due to certain regimes that decided to give all 10000 votes in Semi 1 to one song, to try to sabotage the results, there is a change in voting now. We are returning to the Borda count (Eurovision style douze points system). However, you can vote for less than all 10 songs:

Give points to all 10 songs: 12, 10, 8-1
Give points to just 3 songs: 5, 3, 1
Give points to just 1 song: 2pts

For example, if you only like one song, you will give 2 points to it, and 0 to the others. If you like 3 songs only, you give 5pts for your favourite, 3pts to second place, and 1 point for third. Or, you can give the normal Eurovision points with 12 going to the best and 1 to the worst. You only have those three options.

Televisão Lusitânia is pleased to present an actual RECAP VIDEO of the songs that have made it to the Wild Card round. If you wish to see the full video of each entry, please refer to the previous semifinal postings for the embedded video or link. As you may notice, there are ELEVEN songs in this Wild Card round. This is because a set of votes from one of the semis was received and not tallied into the total until AFTER the results of that semi were given. If they had been included, one song would have replaced another in this round. So, to be fair, that semi had a total of THREE songs advance to this round.
