Domain registration change

  1. Estêvão Did you ever know that you're (JW) my hero

As some of you may or may not have heard, the CEO of GoDaddy.com (a domain name registration company) shot and killed an Elephant while he was in Africa. After killing said elephant, he allowed the locals to mob the carcass for meat, all while conveniently wearing GoDaddy.com hats. For the sake of preventing uncontrolled vomiting and downright illness, we are not posting a link to that dreadful act.

A rival domain name registration company, Namecheap.com, has offered a way to protest GoDaddy's actions. All persons who have a GoDaddy domain name are encouraged to transfer their registrations from GoDaddy to Namecheap for $5, with $1 from each transfer going to the Save the Elephants charity. This results in a net LOSS for Namecheap on each transfer. They are doing this for the next 24hours.

We mention it here because although the main escChat.com site is already registered with Namecheap.com, the contest microsite is currently registered with GoDaddy. The Management team here felt it was a no-brainer to switch. If there are any unexpected downtimes for the contest site, please understand the reasoning behind this and that all will be back to normal soon.

We are making this change because we are appalled at the actions of one company CEO and his reckless actions against a protected species. We refuse to have the good name of escChat.com besmirched by the vile actions of a sick, twisted person, who kills a protected species, and then has the gall to videotape the killing and post it online.

Everyone knows we have a good time here and goof off every now and then. However, this is a serious matter and we take said matter very seriously.

    Sincerely,
    JW's "not-so-MINI" me
    (with authorisation from JW)
  2. jw HI. I'M ADAM SCOTT.

A thoroughly vile and despicable act. We distance ourselves entirely from his actions, hence our decision to migrate to another provider. We are by no means alone in doing so, and although it probably won't make any difference to GoDaddy.com's profits, at least we won't be lining his pockets anymore.
