Hi all, By the end of the year we should reach Edition 100. I would like #100 to be a special occasion, so I am throwing the floor open to you to suggest a way of marking it. I would like people to post their proposals for #100 below, and, if you approve of a proposal, click the Like button for the post. You can like multiple proposals, and the proposal with the most likes wins. I am also aware that we are only on #79 now, and #100 is still 21 editions away, but the winning proposition may time some time to prepare, so it's better to get everything sorted well in advance. I have my own proposal which I shall be posting below. I do particularly enjoy looking forward to Mina's wonderful suggestions, honest.
I propose that #100 should be a retrospective edition where you send one of your own previous songs from the past, and that it should be conducted as a live edition. I would suggest that people are entitled to pick any song from their repertoire, with no restrictions. This will allow people to choose the song they feel is most appropriate, which may be the song that means the most to them, the song they personally like the most, or naively, their most successful entry. By allowing free choice, the participant makes that judgement call. And it isn't all about winning, it's about celebrating your time in the contest, and celebrating 100 editions of the best song contest on the internet. I also wouldn't want to ban winning songs like we do in the E editions, because the difference is that the contest songs were picked by you, they represented you in the past, so they should not be excluded, and it's not fair to punish successful participants by reducing the number of available songs that they can choose from. That is my proposal. If you would like to see it happen, click "Like" below. Alternatively, feel free to make your own proposal. May the best proposal win.
Would they have to be exactly the same song? For example, if a new video had been produced, could you send the same song with a different video?
We would use the song you provided in the relevant edition in the past. You can ask for the old edition's song to be updated with a newer video though, as has happened on a few occasions, in which case the updated song video would be used.
I propose we all take part in edition #100 using our debut song. It will be nice to remember the way we all started and to check if whatever number of editions have passed in any case, it does better or worse. Time to remember.
Well, after giving this a lot of thought (over 15 minutes), my suggestion is to go with our nations' names. Meaning, everyone send a song whose title starts with the first letter of their nation's name. I would enjoy looking for a song that starts with S..and I'd like to see what jj (if he takes part) would pick..from F..lol...or sok from Y
thats me stuffed then Mina cant think of many songs starting with Y Id say everyone send their lowest placed song and see if they can do any better 2nd time, Grandad club members would have a few bogs to choose from
I know this is not a new suggestion, but I think it should be about something that represents your nation well, so "having to" send something is not the best option in my opinion. Does the worst song really represent a nation? In most cases not. Others shouldn't decide, because that's what such systems imply, what someone else sends if you ask me. I think the only person who can judge on what represents the nation best, what he likes best, etc. etc, is the person who plays for that nation.
I was thinking about a ''switch'' edition in which every participant is told privately who he has to choose the song for. I thought about a ''trio'' edition too which considered the idea of working in groups of 3.
That would be unfair and could be even rigged. If for example, person A needs to choose a song for person B, and person B has sent lots of exc songs but some "bad" ones as well, person A could just submit a "bad" song with the reason, "but I like it". (bad/good is personal, but we all know a song that got bottom 5 in a regular edition, won't get the win in a favourite's edition) I'm still with the free choice suggestion by mgf 'w
It depends on you; if you choose a song for someone you don't even know who is, you would make it with a great diligence because you could even choose the song for yourself
Sort of, it is as if everyone had to trust the other player. We are a great group and I ersonally think an edition of ''trust in the other'' could be a good break after so many editions of competitions.
I think it might be fun to have in the 100th all nations that even participated, with exclusion of the ones who brought damage or disgrace to the contest.
I still think it's not the fairest way, someone who got a successful nation will get a high position, and have credit for a song by another nation. And don't think I did this to protect my own songs, because I don't have any winners
