Empelia

As all the other countries in our contest, also Empelia has a story that needs to be told.

Empelia is a country in Avalon. It has 12,4 million inhabitants, with an average age of 17,8. A very youthful country!
Empelia was a part of Holland, but became independent after the Empelian Revolution in February 2010.
Guided by a certain NickEmpel, Empelia declared itself indepent.
Empelia has decided to have 5 official languages, which has lead to protests by other countries. They think Empelia wants to be the new leading country in Global Economy. Of course, Empelia does not want that. Empelia wants to be an independent nation, with an own opinion, own rules, but we will never want to rule the world.
The five official languages in Empelia are Empelian, Dutch, English, German and French.
The value in Empelia is the E-coin, which is worth about 0,10 Eurocents.

Some people wondered why Empelia changed their flag after 1 contest. The explanation for that is very simple. The first flag (which had the Dutch flag in it) was our flag when we were a Dutch region.
Davis Island offered us help, and made a new flag for us. We want to thank Davis Island for that!

In politics, Empelia is ruled by 4 parties and there also is an opposition with 4 parties.
The ruling parties are GreenLeft, a socialistic (almost communistic) green party, Empelian Communist Party, as the name says a Communist Party, which has got great influence in GreenLeft, despite being 12 seats smaller, ECP also would like to cooperate more often with Furnyland, almost everything Furnyland decides, is wanted by ECP, the third party is the Animal Party, also a green and socialistic party and Party for Youth, a central party which only cares for the future.
The parliament consists of 200 seats, 157 of those are taken by GL, ECP, PfY and the AP.

Animal Party: 36 seats (NL: Dierenpartij; FR: Partie pour les Animaux; DE: Partei für die Tieren; EM: Partjei vör Dyren)
Union of Holland: 20 seats (NL: Unie van Nederland; FR: Union des Pays-Bas; DE: Union der Niederlande; EM: Uny des Nederlants)
Christian Democratics: 12 seats (NL: ChristenDemocraten; FR: Démocrats Crétien; DE: Christdemokraten; EM: Christuun Democratjie)
Empelian National Party: 10 seats (NL: Empeliaanse Nationalistische Partij; FR: Partie Nationaliste Empelien; DE: Empelische Nazionalistische Partei; EM: Empeliasche Nationalister Partjei)
Party for Youth: 9 seats (NL: Jeugdpartij; FR: Partie pour les jeunes; DE: Partei für Jugend; EM: Juugdpartjei)
List Anti-Europe: 1 seat (NL: Anti-Europese Lijst; FR: Liste Anti-Europe; DE: Anti-Europäische Liste; EM: Anti-Europeesche Partjei)
