As there wasn't a thread for Germany yet and we have the final ' in the player in chat!' tonight here it is.

As you know I am not that much interested in semi finals and so on, so I only read the news about the candidates today.

Apparently there are two candidates left for Baku.

1. Roman Lob

Roman (21) was in a talent show before, in which he reached the last 20, but he had to quit because of a vocal infection. He is the lead singer of a band called Rooftop Kingdom.



From what I read he is the favourite of most televoters for weeks.

2. Ornella Di Santis
Ornella is a singer of Italian descent but she was born in Germany. She studied Popmusicdesign (whatever that might be). Mostly she sings Latin music and a bit R&B .




The songs I posted are only for your info. Those are not the songs who will compete for Baku. Two songs will be the same for both singers, one will be different. Via televoting there will be decidedwhich song fits each artist the best and with that song they will compete against each other. (Like it went with Lena two years ago).

Personally I hope Roman gets the ticket for Baku. I think he has the purest voice and hopefully his songs are good too. Ornella doesnt sound bad either but she seems a bit too mainstream to me.

I watched Unser Star fuer Baku a couple times , and I personally hate the idea , I mean voting for people at first sight without hearing them sing ? Are we visually judging them?

Ornella has an Italian father and a Serbian mother. When she was 23, she went to Brazil for two years, that's why she speaks five languages fluently (Italian, Serbian, German, Portuguese and English).

I personally think Roman is very mainstream, nothing special. Ornella has something magical, something international. It will definitely depend on the song tonight.

Both Roman and Ornella will sing three songs. Two of them will be sung by both, the other song will be sung by only one. (Just like 2010, when both Lena and Jennifer sang 'Satellite' and 'Bee', then Jennifer sang 'I Care For You' and Lena sang 'Love Me')

I like both Roman and Ornella as singers but I don't think either one has enough star quality for eurovision. Whoever goes, needs a very good song if Germany is to do well this year. So, I'll just wait for the songs and whoever sings the best one better, that one should be chosen.

Like James I haven't seen any of the preamble to this, so am just going on the videos posted here. From the sound of them, it will be difficult to get a song that suits them both, so let's hope Germany have come up with something that works for each of them.

And you're not going to believe it but based on this I prefer Ornella

I read ornella is the juries favourite so its a televote versus jury clash.

OK so going on the final itself I think the best person and the best song won (changing my mind from above). But I wasn't very impressed with the standard of the songs, and I think germany may well struggle once more.

I still think Ornella would've been the better choice, but I don't think Quietly was the right song for her. If you ask me, Ornella with Still Standing would've been perfect.
I still like it though.

IMO Roman's versions of Still Standing and Alone were far superior to Ornella's.

I think the right song/singer won. Ornella is excellent in ballads but Quietly was just too weak for Eurovision and Roman was much better in Standing Still...i.e. I liked his version better.

I think Ornella with Quietly would have been the better choice, I like him but I don't really like any of those songs for him. That being said, Standing Still was his best song and ultimately it's not a bad choice.
