So by the title of the thread you can assume what is it about.
This year Croatia is sending a cappella group(klapa),they are hoping for better understanding of Croatian traditional music and beauty of it. All this years Croatia was achieving great results with ballads but not the best(1st place).Presumably klapa wont pass the Semi-Finals.
Why? you have to send "newer" songs,for example Euphoria had tempo,lyrics,perfomance and catchy song.
Klapa's songs are low tempo,yes they have lyrics,perfomance i realy doubt that will have one and song if forgetable. And i hope that they will sing in ENGLISH.

Let's wait till they have an entry to present and judge then. I don't agree with your opinion that songs have to have tempo. There have been slower songs which did also well. We dont know yet if the song will be catchy or not. I also dont agree with the fact that the song has to be in English.

I agree with James. Atm we know only the musical gendre, but not the specific song...it's difficult to judge. Maybe it can be an uptempo klapa, or a slow klapa.

I found some videos on youtube. If the song is this style, it will be difficult to pass the semi.

When they first announced that the song would be klapa I looked some up, and it seems to me that a lot of what Croatia has sent in the past (also when singing for Yugoslavia) could be described as klapa. Many countries try to incorporate some of their national musical styles in their entries and are applauded for doing so.

I agree that many songs (whether written by mercenary Swedes or not) could be sent by any number of countries and this song will be judged on its merits.

I'm so glad you guys replied and yes probably better Croatian writer then Sweedish but that wasn't my point. I tried to tell you that Croatia hasn't sent in years a up tempo song that had charateristics of pop and dance song. And when we did we sent chicks with bad singing(Croatia 2010 was in wrong Semi's ) .
And yes for example Russian Babushkas. They had their own tradition and etc. and came 2nd. Well can't wait till Semi-Finals order and Croatian song in 2nd month. Till then i'm rocking the GRAVITY

I think we did get your point, Max. You want Croatia to do well and you think they will fare better with a "pop" song (performed well) than with klapa. But what type of things do well? There really isn't an answer to that; Eurovision is an enigma. If everyone knew what would win, it wouldn't have the pull it has.

After 3 years of bare flesh and ethnic riffs with Sertab, Ruslana and Helena, who would have predicted "hard rock" winning? True, the winners for the past 3 years have been pretty mainstream, but that doesn't mean they will continue to be so. If we in the UK knew what type of song would win we wouldn't be searching the country for yet more barrels to scrape the bottom of. The Russian grannies were a gimmick, as is this year's Salvation Army band from Switzerland. Let's face it, if anyone other than a group of elderly women dressed in national costume had 'sung' Party for Everybody, it would have bombed big time. Similarly with You and Me this year, it's an inoffensive enough song, nothing special, and they are hoping (if they are eventually allowed to compete in their present form) it will tug at people's hearts. Maybe Croatia are hoping the same, but at least they are following their traditions in doing so.
