Just opening this thread so anyone who's online when it happens can post the link here (since I'll probably be in class) From what I've heard it's between four songs, let's see who goes and please no Lys
Ok, nevermind about me missing the announcement: It's Valentina again with a song by Siegel. There's an Italian version called Crisalade and an English version called Chrysalis. Its description is "written to suit Monetta's vocal characteristics, and is described as having an Italian style melody with a modern pop sound in the final minute". It'll be released sometime in February. Here's a recent photo of Valentina (I think it's her natural hair color)
I'm not writing San Marino off just yet. Valentina can sing and if the song isn't really awful, who knows?
I agree with Mina 100%. Last year we already discussed what a shame it was that a singer like Valentina got a shit song. Siegel has composed really good songs for Eurovision, so I wouldn't write him off either. Besides, a title like 'Chrysalis' gives me hope. I can't imagine it being 'Chrysalis, oh-oh uh-oh-oh everybody loves you so'. I have hope for San Marino.
Valentina and Siegel again, I shall not say a word, facts speak for them self when it comes to Siegel.
It's really great to see microstate like San Marino tries to do smth good to Eurovision! Valentina is amazing choice! She is a great singer, she just needs a good song for make it through the final, I dont think that R. Siegel is a good choice as a composer of the song, but we'll see! Good luck to them!
OMG was my first reaction. This must be a rumour. Tbh i have more faith in Siegel than in Valentina. In Dutch there's a proverb saying: A donkey does not bumb himself twice against the same rock (translated ofc) . Apparently no donkeys in San Marino. This is in my opinion a pity for the country. Maybe I am speaking too soon, let's wait for the song. But I don't expect a lot from it.
Well, not the worst. It starts slow but ramps up to a typical Eurovision pop song by the end. I don't mind it, I'd say it's in my top 10.
I'm placing this 8th for the time being. I've got to listen to it a few more times first, and check it against tonight's release - it might be sung live, though I doubt it.
This is actually not bad at all - Very typical of Eurovision, but that's not a bad thing. Welcome to the final San Marino - not top 10 but it should final. Well done
If the same team came closest to qualifying last year then this year's effort should come even closer/finally make it. Then again some juries had strange voting last time
