What an eclectic mix this year.

It's hard to pick a winner this year because there are so many styles to choose from. And I think it really will be down to how the performer performs on the night. I remember in 2012 I loved Katy Wolf of Hungary but she could n'ot deliver the goods live and therefore did not achieve the ranking she was capable of.

The categories as I see them are:

    BALLADS
    POP SONGS
    DANCESONGS
    FOLK/CULTURAL SONGS
    WEIRD SONGS

My favorite ballad has to be WATERFALL by Georgia. I love the way the two voices come together and they hold their notes magnificently.

My favorite pop song has to be YOU AND ME (Switz) and the video is loads of fun.

As for dance songs, there is something of a superabundance but my favorites have to be IRELAND and DENMARK.

In the folk category I place Eg A Lif (Iceland) with its sweet video and the Balkan entries that are sung in their own language.

Weird songs this year (and there are always some) include Greee's Alchohol is free and several others that seem to mash together different styles in the same song. I don't think these stand a chance of winning. So we come to my contenders for the crown and it really depends how the juries are going to vote this year:

RUSSIA (beautiful sentiments) - along the lines of Nicole's A little peace
ICELAND (Beautiful melody and a sentimental story) Mr. Viking cuts quite a picture!
IRELAND Love the video and Ryan is a belter (but can he do it live)
UK (Love Bonnie's song) Believe in me
GEORGIA Waterfall - the meld of the male and female voices is exquisite
CROATIA Male harmony singing at its best, I'm learning croatian now
DENMARK - Her voice sounds a bit strained at times but its a good song and I love the mix of drumming and singing and the pan pipe at the beginning .. interesting
FRANCE is also interesting because there is sort of a latent threat, a feeling of menace in the song.

Well that's my 2c for the time being. Let me know if you agree with anything.

I wouldn't call Only teardrops a dance song. At least, I can't imagine myself dancing to it..lol.
Anyway, I agree with you on Denmark, Russia, Iceland, Ireland (if he works on his voice), Uk and Switzerland.
I disagree on Georgia (I can't connect to that song no matter how many times I hear it) and France (it got better for me when I watched it live but still, I find the melody forgettable).

  4. Merjan BOSOPOFO ELSIE

Vomit inducing, especially as it is Russia who has the gall to sing this.
