Norway 2020

  1. Anaconda I'm as sick as fuck.

The Norwegian National Final will take place on 15 February at 6:50pm WIM. It will be available to watch here.

Since this year marks the 60th anniversary of Norway's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest, a different format was used for the Melodi Grand Prix. From the 800+ entries originally submitted, 5 were deemed pre-qualified for the Grand Final. An additional 20 competed in 5 regional semifinals (East, West, North, South, Central), which produced another 5 finalists (one from each semifinal).

The ten acts that made it to the final are listed below in running order. They are marked as PQ (pre-qualified) and SF (coming from the semifinals).

    1. Raylee - Wild (SF)
    2. Didrik & Emil - Out of Air (PQ)
    3. Magnus Bokn - Over The Sea (SF)
    4. Akuvi - Som Du Er (PQ)
    5. Kristin Husøy - Pray For Me (SF)
    6. Rein Alexander - One Last Time (SF)
    7. Tone Damli - Hurts Sometimes (PQ)
    8. Sondrey - Take My Time (PQ)
    9. Ulrikke Brandstorp - Attention (PQ)
    10. Liza Vassilieva - I Am Gay (SF)

Didrik Solli-Tangen (2010 winner), Emil Solli-Tangen (2013 entrant), Raylee (2015 entrant), Tone Damli (2009 entrant) and Ulrikke Brandstorp (2017 entrant) are participants in the competition for the second time. The same is true for Kim Rysstad (2012 entrant), who was eliminated in the semifinals.

During the final, the ten songs will be performed and voted on. Then the top 4 will engage in two duels, then the winner of each in another final duel to determine the overall winning act. All rounds of voting are 100% televote.

I personally enjoy Kristin Husøy's entry the most. Akuvi gives a great performance to a catchy song. Ulrikke Brandstorp is very compelling. Liza Vassilieva is fun. Magnus Bokn and Tone Damli are tolerable. I can't possibly take Rein Alexander seriously. Sondrey is classic Melfest - so not my style. Didrik and Emil are painful to listen to. Raylee is utter crap.

  2. sokrates1988 I HATE EUROVISION

What 1 norwegian song oh they are so generous what a joke
  3. Rua Haldor Lægreid Impersonator

A big celebration for their 60th anniversary but a very mediocre selection of songs. Akuvi and Ulrikke are my favourites and I really wish Tone Damli had a better song because her voice is lovely. The rest, I have complaints about - ranging from bad singing, bad performances, cringy dance moves and songs missing their soul. :D

The winner of the Norwegian National Final, and hence the act to represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, is Ulrikke Brandstorp, with her song Attention.

She progressed to the top four (alongside Kristin Husøy, Raylee, and Liza Vassilieva), then to the final two (alongside Kristin Husøy), then won the competition by 200345 votes to Kristin's 194667.
