A song will be released every day (except for over the weekend) from UMK 2021, the first of which you can listen to below:
Contemporary sound not unlike Dean Lewis - I imagine this was used to pad out the selection with something radio-friendly. It's alright but I imagine there'll be other songs with some more oomph in the selection.
The second song can be heard here:
I feel like this could be an earworm but it does seem like they ran it through that robot that made eurovision songs and tried to come up with the best randomly generated one.
This one will do
The third entry can be listened to here:
The song is about the end of life with a bit of sadness, a bit of happiness and a bit of humour. I imagine this could pull at a few heartstrings of the Finnish public but I'm not sure if it's a winner. It works as a piece rather than a full song.
Wouldnt be so bad if they only had a Finnish jury and televote we would get a much fairer result then.
The fourth entry just premiered:
Would anyone like some MOR? (See what I did there - but it's not even really pleasant so, yeah. Just very nothingy.)
The fifth entry can be found here, Aksel trying to return to the contest:
I prefer it to his entry last year - I imagine a homely staging with soft lighting and vignettes on the background. I don't think it's very competitive, much like his last entry - and from what I gather, Blind Channel still have their song to be released and they're quite popular.
The sixth entry can be found here:
It's not my genre of music but I imagine this might be Finland's choice for Eurovision - they're relatively popular there. The lyrics put me off a bit but it's different which is always preferential to hearing the same big shouty ballad or middle of the road safe song.
The seventh (and final) entry can be found here:
I was looking forward to Ilta and she didn't disappoint me, this is one of my favourites of this national final. I think it'll still be Blind Channel that ends up winning but I'm glad this is in the running as finnish language songs make up a good chunk of my playlists.
International juries will make sure a no hoper wins again
