As you know, the countdown to this year’s Shermantide has well and truly begun.

This year, in an effort to be more inclusive - and to try and prevent quite so much moaning (which is, quite frankly, extremely demoralising), I intend to play more songs chosen by you.

For one thing, if I choose the songs, you are likely to get the (same) ones I like, again and again, and for another, it is clear that my choices are often not held in particularly high regard - evident through the aforementioned moaning and, for example, in last year’s Cyprus Night, when you were given the choice of 21 songs to be played, all of which I considered, to a greater or lesser extent, were most acceptable, only one of those was selected by you and you instead requested 6 different songs be played.

So please take some time to think about songs you would like featured, from any and all countries, and send them to me in a private message here.

This is not a one-off conversation. Please continue to send songs as and when you think of them. I cannot guarantee to play all of them, but I will include as many as I can. I have decided that (some of) the nights will be constructed so that the songs played will not necessarily relate to any questions and there will be some All-Music Nights. It is up to you to make sure you hear more of what you want to hear; otherwise you will get what I want, and any complaints will be severely frowned upon.

So, don’t forget, send your requests here and have more of the Shermantide you want.

Thanks jan. I honestly don't mind whatever is being played for any Night, so you won't hear any moaning from me, but I'm happy to make some suggestions if you find it helpful.

As so many people seem to have particular favourites from the UK, and there are so many songs anyway, I am proposing an ALL MUSIC UNITED KINGDOM NIGHT.

Let us make some inroads into all this unwelcome wittering about songs and, at the same time, get rid of at least one picture of James, and get back to Good Old Shermantide, which looms ever closer.
