:bg:Bulgaria's in, the total is now 36. They applied the last week of November, but didn't say anything until now. So I guess some countries like to keep us waiting even though they've applied. I hope it's true for the remaining ones :fr::ru::by::md:

I heard that in Festival Da Cancao the public would be the tiebreaker unlike 2006, is this true?

Montenegro MIGHT go to Eurovision 2011. They applied, but they can still withdraw before Christmas (which is the deadline) and not get penalized. They had previously said they are having severe financial troubles. I remember when Andorra applied and then pulled out. Come back, Andorra :'(
  8. Julio STRANGLES

    dont think so luis
  9. Lilly.. Y U NO ALIEN?

    And Kosovo applied too :P

    Qatar

With all the discussions around Hungary and Liechtenstein, I felt it was worth mentioning that there is a real possibility of Qatar joining the EBU and potentially participating in eurovision. They have already confirmed that they would show the Isaraeli entry, which has been a major hurdle for other arab countries (Lebanon, and Tunisia).

The question is how far are the EBU willing to push the boundaries to alow Qatar to join. Officially the southern boundary of the European broadcasting area is 30°N and the eastern boundary is 40°E. Any country falling partially within this area, is eligible to apply for membership. The EBU however have already waived this boundary to allow Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan to join, all three of which lie fully outwith the official boundary.

The current geographical extent of the EBU is 20°N and 50°E. Qatar still lies outwith this area, but only just. So we shall wait and see. Insh'allah

If none of this makes sense, see the map I made below.

:ru:Big Mother Russia's in, not like we doubted their participation :P

:fr:France, :by:Belarus, and :md:Moldova are still left from the countries that took part last year.

40 is getting closer and closer.:D

Let's cheer for Liechtenstein and Hungary! EBU you'd better let them in.;D

So if Qatar is allowed in, this means that the boundries of what is technically Europe have been extremely pushed, and potentially could pave way for SBS to join the EBU, Allowing for an Australian participation?

Personally I see both options just as likely.
  13. Lilly.. Y U NO ALIEN?

Its not fair QATAR to enter and Kosovo not , because Kosovo is inn EUROPE!! Anyway if Qatar enters Australia ha to enter too.

Qatar will bring us ethno music and Australia will bring us country music :P

    :fr:France finally did.

So Belarus and Moldova are left from last year, they're probably waiting a bit because of Junior Eurovision.

  20. Luis DLC I spread Eurovision joy in the US, oy

:by:Belarus confirmed. That makes it 40 if Montenegro doesn't pull out. All that's left now is Moldova. So if all goes well we'll have 41.
